HI, I'M JODIE!

My Yoga Journey so far

Hi I’m Jodie I’m an outdoor kinda person, I like castles, old houses and history, frolicking in pretty dresses and I love the rain. I’m in love with the mountains and with my husband (and Perry cat)  sometimes he might question which comes first. I love Scotland and everything Scottish, haggis goes with pretty much everything (maybe not ice cream). Folk music is my jam. I love things that make me feel strong and capable, yoga bouldering, sea swimming and massive hikes. I have had to learn to pace myself as my pcos and fibromyalgia (and all their lovely symptoms) sometimes mean I can’t go as hard as I’d like, but yoga has taught me a lot including patience.

Yoga is my thing, I’m a forever student and I love sharing it with everyone who wants to learn. I’ve been practicing nearly a decade and teaching for just shy of 7 years. I’ve tried every style but I’m an Ashtanga girl at heart, however I’m definitely not a traditional one! You will see a load of different styles and movement patterns in my classes as you have to work with the body you’ve got and we aren’t looking for something that looks a certain way but something that feels good to you.

I teach classes in Musselburgh East Lothian and Portobello Edinburgh and there’s something for everyone, gentle classes, strong classes, sweaty classes and stretchy classes, beginners classes, pre natal classes and post natal mum and baby yoga so hopefully there’s something that will work for you.

Yoga is many things to many people, there are many different styles of yoga, different lineages and if you asked 100 people what yoga was and does for them you would likely get 100 different answers. That is the beauty of yoga. Meet yourself on the mat, learn about you and your body and take what you need.

I believe yoga can be for everyone you just need to find the right Yoga class and the right Yoga teacher.

I'm constantly continuing to build on my knowledge as there is always something else to learn or deepen your knowledge of when it comes to Yoga and the complimentary therapies. I regularly attend CPD courses and workshops to develop my teaching and my own practice. I
completed my RYT500 Advanced Yoga teacher training with Meadowlark Yoga.

Some of the extra learning I have done

  • Pregnancy and Mum and Baby Yoga

  • Sport Massage Diploma

  • Level 2 Anatomy for Yoga

  • Trauma informed Yoga

  • Indian Head Massage

I have also attended courses on Ayurvedic Massage, philosophy and chanting and the art of adjustments with Karen Kirkness of Meadowlark Yoga.

YOGA CLASSES

GENTLE YOGA

A slow steady class great for people new to yoga or who would like a gentler pace. We move and breath mindfully through a sequence, all of the postures are grouped together so you aren’t getting up and down off the floor, (all seated postures together, standing postures together) making it a great class for injuries, ailments and limited mobility.
This class is also suitable for second and third trimester of pregnancy but please let me know prior to booking.

Please bring your own mat.

 YOGA

This class get you sweaty, moving and breathing your way through standing postures, seated, backbends, inversions and ending with a well earned savasana. It’s suitable for most levels as options are given but a knowledge of some of the more common postures is useful as we move at a quicker pace. If you have never done yoga before why not check out the beginners or gentle yoga.
Please bring your own mat.

BEGINNERS YOGA

A one to one yoga class is a brilliant option if you have an injury, ailment or mobility issue which may make it more difficult to attend a group class.

PERSONALISED ATTENTION

1 hour class held in your own home, can be done as a one off or a regular session

£40 PER SESSION

1 hour private classes are £40,  1:2:2's at £50 per hour and groups of 5 or more £70 per hour

DEVELOP AND LEARN

Working one to one allows us to focus on creating a yoga practice that suits your needs and lifestyle. It may be yin or power or anything in between, working on strength and alignment or working with an injury or mobility issues. We will work together to create a practice that will give you what you need.

Starting Yoga has completely changed my life. After an injury to my back 20 years ago I've been on various medications for years. After a few months of practising Yoga and learning how the muscle groups work my intake of medications have been cut down to more or less nothing. The class is very relaxed and is not only great for the body but for the mind also. One hour to spend time on yourself and away from the general stress of life. Thanks Jodie
